Steve and Linda Visit Scotland

Piper Steve McDonald and Band member Linda McDonald visited Scotland for the first time in August 2005. They visited many of the historic sites with the highlights of playing the pipes at Loch Ness and attending the 2005 Edinburgh Military Tattoo. 2005 was the last year the seven Regimental Scottish bands played together before being restructured into the Highland and Lowland Regimental bands..

Thanks for Sharing, Steve and Linda!!

To the left is a great picture of Robert Burns' Cottage in Ayrshire.

The Cottage was built in 1757 by Robert Burns' father, William Burnes. On January 25, 1759, a cold, blustery day with an Atlantic storm brewing offshore, Robert Burns was born.

To this day, all around the world, the event is celebrated annually with Burns' Night events. Scots and those who love Scots gather to raise a glass and toast the Haggis and pay tribute to Scotlands most famous bard.

Scenes from around Scotland

Culloden - Site of what is referred to as the last battle on British soil

The battle climaxed on April 16, 1746. Bonnie Prince Charlie was defeated in this battle, and the Jacobite Rebellion was effectively ended

To the right Linda McDonald is pictured at the Clan Donald grave marker at the Culloden Battlefield.

GLENCOE

The Massacre of Glencoe occurred in Glen Coe, Scotland early in the morning on February 13, 1692, during the era of the Glorious Revolution and the Jacobite Risings.

38 MacDonalds were killed by the guests who had accepted their hospitality, for not promptly pledging allegiance to the new king, William of Orange. Another 40 women and children died of exposure after their homes were burned.
